It has been one week since the incredible concert by Dr Tedd Joselson. Had a BBQ gathering prepared by our Heartware Network volunteer cum 3rd generation hawker, Anthony. He had a new fan last night who loved his pumpkin paste, blue rice, truffle noodles, baked sweet potatoes and BBQ meats. She was from Lyon, France.Presented Dr Tedd with an intricate hand-embroidered scenery of a lone boat moving into the autumn season of harvest. They served under hot sun or in the rain. Their commitment level is high and there are no monetary incentives. Why do our youths join Heartware Network as National Day Parade hospitality ushers? We have been serving NDPs for 25 years! Beyond aligning them to a shared vision on the importance of National Day and serving others from their hearts, it is always the personal touch to show that we care. Many of them are my children's age and when Heartware was founded, some of their parents were probably just dating too.Despite nursing a bad ankle sprain, managed to use my umbrella as a support to shake over 400 hands, look at them in the eye, give them a firm handshake and thanked them for coming and doing a good job! This is the Heart of Heartware.

Heartiest congratulations to our "Business of Trust" leader Kelvin and partners for securing this SGD $82 million deal with AmBank Group. Beyond just capital advisory, Kelvin also brought in experts like ChinaPower, with a market cap of $4 billion, to work on this waste to energy project.Heartened that the Malaysian company owner also attended Heartware Network fundraising dinner in 2023. With our network across Asia - Commonwealth, we are vetting the types of business partners for our Asia - Commonwealth Innovation Centres' Strategic Partners in ASEAN, Asia and the Commonwealth. Kelvin is also our Singapore partner for the USD $100 million AAA Impact Fund with Dr. Toyin F Sanni from Emerging Africa Group representing Africa and MoMo from Hong Kong whose family office manages some of the tech giants' funds.

Always very encouraged when I see an energetic drummer playing but more in awe when he is a 72-year young grandfather. When I first met him 25 years ago, "elder Lam" whom we affectionately call him, was then the deputy CEO of Building and Construction Authority. At one community project, he also led by personal example and washed the toilet in a hawker centre. A true servant leader who does his work quietly and stepped up when there was a need.

It was very special Father's Day as some of the Heartware Network Board Members led by our Chairman came together to execute the 1st piano recital by internationally-acclaimed maestro Tedd Joselson ever since he retired in Singapore and conducted by robert casteels. Heartened to see former Global Chairman of Citi Private Bank Deepak Sharma and his lovely wife Dr Susan Lim. Honoured Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, who is Heartware's Chief Patron and Mrs Heng came to support this rare performance and engaged some of our youth leaders too. Also present were Singapore General Hospital "Father of Surgery Robotics" A/P Henry and Changi General Hospital A/P Lim, President of the Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Isabel Alvarez Fernandez and Belgium Ambassador Colette TAQUET. It was an incredible performance and like what The Straits Times reviewed, "for raw passion unleashed, the Rondo finale saw Joselson sprint out like a man possessed, and his ability to sustain that level of tension throughout was enviable for even someone half his age."Hmm ... interestingly in the 1st group photo, four of us had Singapore Police Force backgrounds. Mayank Parekh was my boss when I was serving NS, DPM was Commander, J Divison and Prof Ting served part of his NS in the police before being transferred to Singapore Armed Forces and commissioned as an officer.

Glad to catch up with my dynamic young Indian business leader buddy again but now at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Forgot it was National Day Parade Combined Rehearal 1 and I had to make some detours. Armed with a Masters from Singapore Management University, Anand focuses on blending tech in farming solutions and works in one of the most revered companies in India with "Trust" and "Integrity" at its core. The 138-yr-old 5th generation company helmed by his father generates $2 billion in revenues and I shared about our "Business of Trust" Asia - Commonwealth regional plans and how their innovative farming solutions in agri-tech and helping farmers could be exported to Indonesia and other ASEAN markets.

During my recent visit to the top-5 ranked Innovation Institute in China, I had the chance to put on this lightweight smart bracelet from PsychTech, a very impressive company! As soon as I wore the device, my key vital signs was almost instantaneously revealed on the dashboard screen. I was told that together with AI, these readings could be used to provide an objective “Job Competency Assessment System," one that has been successfully used by local public institutions for more effective recruitment. Such testings, when used together with iPad answering Q&As, provided a more comprehensive evaluation. This enterprise technology is also used by the Chinese military to evaluate the personnel’s physical and mental state during their training. With data analysis and AI, it could even identify the mood of the wearer and provide guidance on the person's state of physical fatigue and mental health.

Returned from Beijing at midnight to conduct two 2-hr training sessions cum scenario-based learnings yesterday morning for the Singapore Armed Forces Guardsmen who will be working closely with our Heartware Network NDP battalion. Got them to think on their feet, learn to articulate clearly, avoid using any negative words and uplift the NDP spirit. In particular, look after the Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE) P5 children well during National Education Shows. I am glad they enjoyed themselves and hope they remember the lessons well. Thanks to Chairman SMC LTC Stanley and his team for the support.

My Beijing buddy welcomed me to Beijing few days ago and sent me off with a simple and light lunch which Kelvin and I appreciated. As he sent me to the airport for my Singapore Airlines flight home, he offered me his cars to drive the next time I am in Beijing. I could choose from his Porsche or Ferrari etc. All these years, I never asked to visit his villa or how many cars he had as I was trained not to be greedy or fall for temptation.This was also a test of where my bottom line would be. It was always about the "Business of Trust" C.I.V.I.C values with "Integrity" at the core. My friend also told me that business leaders who are not aligned to these values will also stay away from me.
