Tina Nur Alam pocketed a ticket to run for the Southeast Sulawesi gubernatorial election after receiving recommendations from Nasdem and PKS.

KENDARI, KOMPAS — DPR member from the Nasdem Party, Tina Nur Alam, has pocketed a ticket to compete in the Southeast Sulawesi Governor Election this year. Apart from being supported by the Nasdem Party, Tina also received a recommendation from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) so that she met the support requirements to run as a candidate for governor.

"PKS has provided recommendations to Ms Tina Nur Alam, which are based on a number of aspects, namely the application procedures as required and in accordance with party guidelines. "Apart from that, Mrs. Tina has many ideas in common with PKS," said Chairman of the PKS Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Sultra Yaudu Salam Ajo, Sunday (23/6/2024), in Kendari .

Recommendations from a certain party to Tina have been given on Saturday (22/6/2024). A letter of endorsem*nt was handed over by the Deputy of Regional Development in Sulawesi of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the party, Ahmad Hasan.

According to Yaudu, the process of submitting the names of potential candidates for governor and vice governor of Southeast Sulawesi has been ongoing for some time. The Southeast Sulawesi regional chapter of PKS has submitted two names for potential governor candidates and two names for potential vice governor candidates.

After going through several processes, the DPP PKS has given a recommendation to Tina. Meanwhile, the name who will accompany Tina is still under discussion.

Currently, Yaudu added, the PKS Sultra Regional Board is starting to focus on internal consolidation at the regional level. Coordination and strategic steps for winning are discussed to be carried out by all regional executives.

"With the current recommendations, we work with each person's portion. Bu Tina also has a recommendation from the Nasdem Party. In the future, there will certainly be coordination between parties to see which ones can be worked on together and which ones can be done independently," he said.

Meanwhile, Tina stated that the recommendations given to her were a form of political party trust in the Sultra Gubernatorial Election. He also assessed that the recommendations from PKS were a manifestation of PKS's commitment to maintaining democracy, people's sovereignty and strengthening women's politics.

"Previously, I had obtained a recommendation from the Nasdem Party which has six seats in the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Council. With the PKS which has four seats, it completes a total of 10 seats that will support me as a candidate for Governor of Southeast Sulawesi in 2024," said Tina through her official website.

The number of seats in the Sultra Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) is 45 seats. Therefore, the prospective candidates for Sultra Governor must have the support of political parties or coalitions of political parties that have 9 seats or 20 percent of the total seats in the Sultra DPRD. With the support of Nasdem and PPP, Tina has obtained sufficient support to run for the Sultra Regional Election.

Tina is an incumbent member of Parliament who has served for the last two terms. In the 2024 Legislative Elections, she received the highest number of votes in the Nasdem Party, which entitled her to continue as a member of Parliament.

However, in last May's session at the Constitutional Court, Tina announced her resignation after being sued by her fellow party member, Ali Mazi, who is a former Governor of Southeast Sulawesi.

24 days after her resignation, Tina received a recommendation from the Nasdem Party to run in the Sulawesi Tenggara gubernatorial election. Many parties link Tina's decision to resign as a elected DPR member with the recommendation.

Moreover, previously there was a photo circulating of Tina with her husband, Nur Alam, shaking hands with Ali Mazi facilitated by the management of the DPP Nasdem Party.

Based on the results of the legislative elections in 2024, there are three political parties that have the most seats in the Sulawesi Tenggara Regional Council, namely Nasdem, Golkar, and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), all of which have six seats each. However, unlike Nasdem which has announced its candidate in the Sulawesi Tenggara gubernatorial election, Golkar and PDI-P have not yet announced their supported candidates.

Political observer from Muhammadiyah University Kendari, Andi Awaluddin Maruf, stated that several candidates are still trying to obtain recommendations from political parties to participate in the Sultra Regional Election.

"By PKS' recommendation to Bu Tina, it means that currently only she is able to declare herself as a candidate for the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi to the KPU. Other candidates are still actively campaigning, of course," said Awaluddin.

Apart from Tina, the Regent of North Konawe, Ruksamin, who is also the Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) in Southeast Sulawesi, has received recommendations from PBB and the National Mandate Party (PAN). The total number of seats for both parties in the Southeast Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives is seven.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Board of the United Development Party (PPP) in Southeast Sulawesi, Andi Sumangerukka, has received a recommendation from his party, which has three seats in the Southeast Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives. He is also continuing to communicate with other parties.

Awaluddin explained that as long as the political party recommendations have not been announced and registration has not yet taken place, the struggle for support can still occur. He added that based on previous experiences, the Sulawesi Tenggara gubernatorial election is often followed by three candidate pairs, as in 2018 and 2013. Meanwhile, in 2008, the Sulawesi Tenggara gubernatorial election was followed by four candidate pairs.

"There are still three names currently actively seeking tickets, namely Andi Sumangerukka who has obtained a recommendation from an undisclosed party, Ruksamin who has a recommendation from another undisclosed party, and Lukman Abunawas (Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of the PDI-P in Southeast Sulawesi). We will wait to see who convinces the party to obtain a ticket towards the upcoming gubernatorial election," he said.

With the PKS recommendation to Bu Tina, it means that she is currently the only one who can apply to become the candidate for the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Province to the Election Commission (KPU). Other candidates are still continuing their campaigns.
