Disney and Lucasfilm kicked off the sequel trilogy in 2015 via Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, introducing fans to a new crop of galactic key players such as Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), whilealso bringing back legacy characters Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

In 2017, it was followed by Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi which totally shook things up in the franchise. And now, as the Star Wars main saga supposedly comes to a close with The Rise of Skywalker, fans are wondering if there's still any chance that the episodic films will continue down the road. Here's what we know about a potential Star Wars 10.

Rise of Skywalker Is The Final Star Wars Skywalker Saga Movie

What To Expect From Star Wars Episode 10 (1)

The final entryin the sequel trilogy also happens to be the last movie for the Star Wars main saga, which was confirmed long before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's title was revealed. Back in 2018, Lucasfilm rolled out a press release announcing the full cast and production details for The Rise of Skywalkerincluding a reference to project as "the final installment of the Skywalker saga."With the weight of the whole franchise legacy resting on the shoulders of the Abrams-directed project, the pressure to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the narrative that started more than 40 years ago was very high. Things were made much trickier with a couple of production hurdles, including the untimely death of Carrie Fisher before The Last Jedi was even released. However, it's clear from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's ending that this is a conclusion to the Skywalker Saga.

Will Disney Make Star Wars Episode 10?

Given how Disney marketedStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, coupled that with the fact that there hasn't been any word about potentially a fourth trilogy, it does feel like it's the end of the episodic films However, that doesn't necessarily mean that a Star Wars Episode 10 is guaranteed to never happen. When both the original and prequel trilogies wrapped up with The Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith, there was a feeling that they were the end of the Star Wars narrative, but that was proven otherwise. Given this, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Lucasfilm will revisit where they left the story off The Rise of Skywalker with the intention of kickstarting another threequel moving forward, allowing Star Wars 10 to continue the saga.

What Star Wars Episode 10 Could Be About

What To Expect From Star Wars Episode 10 (3)

At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine was defeated, and with him what remained of the Sith, leaving the galaxy at a new chance at a peaceful way of living. Rey, who is essentially adopted as a Skywalker, returns to Tatooine to bury the Luke and Leia's lightsabers near their father's childhood home. WhileStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker didn't give out any tease about a potential continuation of the story (as a way to stick with the idea that it's the final episodic movie), the story can continue with Rey as the last remaining Skywalker. Perhaps she'll try to rebuild the Jedi order, be more active in establishing a new galactic governing body, or help face a new threat. In any case, it's safe to say that a possible Star Wars 10 won't be happening any time in the near future, but it's not off the table either.
