On or about January of this year, Purina, the manufacturer of Alpo Variety Snaps, made the decision to discontinue this product without any valid and verifiable reason other than that the amount of sales of this product has sadly dimished greatly to the point that producing them was apparently no longer feasible for the company. I was told this by a company representative after being told that let me know this after emailing the company to find out what the situation was with the recent shortage of the above mentioned.

A few days after my message, I was given a reply which was a very clear and impersonal "canned" response from the company which stated that this product has been discontinued due a slump in sales as of late, and that they would not be manufacturing them anymore.

I find this very hard to believe for two very specific reasons. The first reason being that this product has always been a very good seller for the company. I do not have any specific numbers to attribute to this statement in the amount of packages that were sold, other than saying that I had always found this product extremely hard to find anywhere in my area due to them always being out of stock. I even work in a store where they were normally sold, and this product was usually always sold out. This was the case with all the stores in my area with the same problem.

Secondly,, this product seems to be a favorite of dogs everywhere around the world. There is a statement on the box which quite clearly says that this product is "preferred over Milk Bone" at a number which I cannot recall as of now due to the fact that I no longer have a box of these to refer to.

I am writing this petition to ask that Purina, the company who used to make this product reconsider their decision to discontinue them, and start production again in the very near future. I find it very hard to believe that this product had experienced a slump in sales that led to the discontinuation of the product in question. i had also written the company to ask the contact information of the individuals who made this decision, and at the time of this writing, they have not responded to my request.

And as for these unknown individuals who came up with this decision, I ask that you think of both the number of pets, and their pet parents that have been inconvenienced by the discontinuation of Alpo Variety Snaps. I had purchased this product ever since my dog was a puppy, and not only is he sad that these are no longer available, but you have also made all the other pets, and their "pawrents" very sad as well.
